Laura Pommier, full-time artist from Jasper, Indiana.
I’m very happy to be a small part of the lively art scene in the southwest, Florida, an area which boasts a multitude of opportunities and venues in the visual arts. For most of my career, I have concentrated on exploring and utilizing the human figure within unique narratives and lyrical representations. Recently, the landscape and colors of Florida have inspired my latest efforts.
My formal art education consists of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Murray State University in Kentucky and a Master of Arts degree from Indiana State University. I have taught many art workshops for beginning and advanced students in the disciplines of portrait, landscape and still life, utilizing graphite, charcoal, pastel, oil, and acrylic. Throughout my career, I have exhibited in solo, group, and juried shows, and have earned several awards including three best of shows.
I put my heart and soul into the classes I teach, always striving for participants to have the same exhilarating experience I feel when I’ve created my own pieces. Relying on a groundwork of formal training and strong fundamentals, I strive for an individual, unique and spontaneous approach. Recognizing and sharing in my students’ successes has been one of the greatest joys of my career.
