Youth Art Director
My family traveled a lot when I was a child and I decided to become an artist at age 8, after seeing the Mona Lisa. My "art education" started then, as art makes an excellent companion for a child when traveling...or, anytime for that matter. Whenever there was an opportunity for classes, whether it was with an artist down the street, a class at the Y, or a drawing course at a museum, I absorbed it all. Majoring in art, I studied a wide spectrum of arts ranging from anatomy to glass blowing. I received my Associates in Fine Arts At Lourdes University in Sylvania, OH and studied at the Toledo Museum of Art. I then married and raised a family near and in Ottawa, IL. For the last 30 years, I have built up an active art career painting portraits and various commissions. Other art endeavors include community murals, commercial logos, and teaching art.
Since moving to Florida in 2005, I have found this area to be full of artistic activity! I enjoy plein air painting (painting outdoors) and highly recommend it. I teach Oils at Harbor Cove in North Port and I also teach Acrylic painting at the North Port Art Center where I'm the Youth Art Director. If you think you might be interested in taking a painting class, I'd like to invite you to stop by the North Port Art Center during one of my classes.
