Joanne Stramara

Water Media Artist and Teacher

Joanne is currently teaching watercolor classes at North Port Art Center in Florida. She displays her work at Sea Grape Gallery in Punta Gorda, Florida. Enters shows at Visual Art Center in Punta Gorda, Venice Art Center, and is a member of the Florida Watercolor Society and a Signature Member of the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society.

Born in rural Pennsylvania, Joanne loves the simple beauty of nature. The childhood memories of her Grandmother Jennie’s colorful quilts and beautiful flowers still inspire Joanne’s artwork today. Joanne moved to Florida in 2006 to capture the sea, sky, flora and fauna of the area. She is happiest studying, sketching and painting.

In 2018 Joanne underwent surgery on her right shoulder. Never wanting a day without art, this led to waking up her left, non-dominant hand. Now Joanne’s shoulder has healed and allowed her to move to another challenge, 50 paintings in 50 days.

Her artwork has won many awards in Southwest Florida and is in collectors’ homes everywhere, from Nova Scotia to the Florida Keys. Joanne spends her time creating and teaching in Charlotte and Sarasota Counties.

Art provided me with a happier life filled with beauty, purpose and fulfillment… and I have never looked back.
